Pregnancy test
This pregnancy test is also known as a Beta HCG (Quantitative) test. It measures the level of a hormone called beta human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in your body. HCG is produced during pregnancy and is responsible for maintaining your pregnancy. This test is commonly used to confirm if a woman is pregnant or to monitor the progress of a pregnancy.
The pregnancy test works by measuring the amount of HCG in your blood. If you are pregnant, the levels of HCG will increase rapidly in the early stages of pregnancy. By measuring the amount of HCG, the test can determine if you are pregnant and how far along you are.
In addition to confirming pregnancy, the Beta HCG (Quantitative) test can also be used to detect certain medical conditions, such as ectopic pregnancy (when the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus) or molar pregnancy (a rare condition where abnormal tissue grows in the uterus).
